Aruba, Curacao, St Maarten Prime Ministers Visit Colombia, Venezuela

The Prime Ministers of Aruba, Curacao and St Maarten visited Colombia and Venezuela this past weekend, joining Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima on their visit to the islands’ two largest neighbours.

Aruba Prime Minister Mike Eman, Curacao Prime Minister Ivar Asjes and St Maarten Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams were received by Colombia President Juan Manuel Santos and Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro on their respective visits.

The group held “widespread discussions” on the relationship between the Dutch Caribbean and the two countries, according to a statement from the government of St Maarten.

Wescot-Williams herself visited Colombia in February 2013, hold talks on consular services and importation of fruits and vegetables between the two countries.

The Royal Couple were joined by Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans as well.
