An all-inclusive resort in Haiti?

While that’s become the norm in Haiti’s neighbour on Hispaniola, the Dominican Republic, Haiti’s developing tourism sector could be looking in that direction.

Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin held talks this week with the executive committee of Viva Wyndham, the all-inclusive division of Wyndham resorts, which operates eight hotels in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and the Bahamas.

The discussions focused on Haiti’s tourism development plans in the area of Cotes des Fer.

The Tourism Ministry also met with Chinese construction company CCA, which is the general contractor and investor at the Baha Mar project in the Bahamas, the largest in the Caribbean.

The talks came within the context of the CHICOS investment conference in the Dominican Republic, where Haiti had sent a delegation led by Villedrouin.
