Cayman Swears in New Governor

The Cayman Islands swore in its newest governor on Friday, Helen Kilpatrick.

The new top British official in the territory was received by an honour guard in Georgetown. and then officially sworn in at the Legislative Assembly.

Kilpatrick is the territory’s 12th appointed governor. Her appointment was first announced in the middle of June.

Kilpatrick, a chartered accountant by trade, succeeds Duncan Taylor as the Cayman Islands’ Governor.

Her background includes stints in the British Home Office and in the West Sussex County Council in the United Kingdom.

She is transferring from the Home Office to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the post.
