Martinique followed up its surprising victory over Canada last week with a hard-fought, 3-1 loss to Mexico in Colorado.

Mexico got off to a quick 2-0 lead, with goals from Marco Fabian de la Mora in the 21st minute and Luis Montes in the 34th minute.

Martinique answered just before the half, however, with Kevin Parsemain putting one home past Mexican keeper Moises Muñoz Rodriguez in the 43rd minute at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

But that proved to be the only goal for Martinique, as Mexico largely controlled possession for the game and outshot the French department, 12 to 6.

Mexico’s Miguel Ponce iced the game with a goal in the 90th minute of play.

Martinique’s Olivier Thomert and Daniel Herelle received yellow cards.

Alejandro Castro received a yellow card for Mexico.
