Sweden’s Ambassador to Barbados Claes Hammar recently met with Barbados’ Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Steven Blackett for talks on issues including tourism, alternative energy and transportation.

The two officials discussed ” a number of ideas on how these areas could be enhanced and the requisite technologies and inputs needed to effect this,” according to a Barbados government statement.

Hammar reportedly praised Barbados’ efforts on green energy, while Blackett explained that the country had announced a series of tax concessions and rebates to “encourage new players in the market to come on board with alternative energy.”

According to Blackett, several alternative energy providers in the market had already come on board before the offering of the incentives.

Barbados and Sweden established diplomatic ties in March 1976.
