Haiti has begun the admission process for the new Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Les Cayes, according to the departmental directorate of tourism in Haiti’s South department.

The new school is slated to open in March. It plans to recruit 60 students for its first class based on entrance examinations.

The property is located on a former base of Senegalese soldiers from the MINUSTAH peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

It was rehabilitated by the authorities of Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism in the South department.

The IFORH, as the school will be known, is the first tourism training school in Les Cayes.

The school’s faculty will be recruited from Les Cayes and from the Hotel School of Port-au-Prince.

Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin, in a statement, said training is one of the Ministry’s priority areas as part of an effort to “improve the quality of services relating to reception” in Haiti.
