The West Indies continued their surge through the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, defeating Australia by 74 runs to set up a showdown with Sri Lanka on Sunday in the final.

Chris Gayle led the Windies at Premadasa Stadium with 75 not out on Friday.

The win followed the West Indies’ victory earlier this week over New Zealand, thanks to masterful spinning from Sunil Narine and super batting from Marlon Samuels.

The West Indies scored 205 for four off 20 overs; Kieron Pollard scored 38 runs, Dwayne Bravo chipped in 37 runs and Marlon Samuels scored 26.

Australia scored 131 off 16.4 overs, led by George Bailey with 63.
