The Four Seasons Resort Estates in Nevis has broken ground on a $60 million villa project.

The project, which is on an approximately 15-acre site, will reportedly include 15 properties.

It should employ around 60 people in Nevis within the next 30 days, with a potential for another 150 Nevisian employees, Premier Joseph Parry said at the groundbreaking Wednesday, where he was joined by FSRE vice president David Chekemian.

Parry said that Nevis’ construction sector had been the weakest portion of the island’s economy over the previous two years.

“I want to hope and expect that the workers would work well, do Nevis proud and would do your company proud,” Parry said. “I do hope the owners, some of them I would have already met, would be satisfied and happy with the work and with the quality of life here on the island of Nevis.”

The Villas at Pinneys Beach project, as it is dubbed, will include 15 three- and four-bedroom villas, each of which will be around 4,000 square feet, with private gardens and a pool.

The total build-out time will take approximately 3.5 years, according to Chekemian.

A portion of the revenue from the project will go to projects aimed at youth develpoment in Nevis, he said.
