Grenada Prime Minister Tillman Thomas requested Governor General Sir Carlyle Glean to prorogue Parliament Monday, according to a statement released by Thomas’ office.

The action brings the fourth session of the eighth Parliament to an end.

The commencement of the fifth session of this Parliament has not yet been announced, according to the statement.

When the new date is revealed, Governor General Glean will deliver the traditional Throne Speech.

Grenada has been dealing with some political turmoil in recent months, led by apparent disagreements in the ruling National Democratic Congress. Two Cabinet ministers resigned in a 30-day period at the end of of April.

At the end of August, former Foreign Minister Karl Hood, who resigned in April, filed a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
