Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has revoked the appointment of Minister Collin Partap as Minister in the Ministry of National Security, she announced Monday.

The revocation came following reports that Partap had refused to submit to a breathalyzer test Sunday after a traffic stop early Saturday morning by police.

“I have decided to advise the President of the Republic of Trinidad, His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards, to revoke the appointment of Minister Collin Partap with immediate effect,” Persad-Bissessar said in a statement. “This decision was made subsequent to reports received from the Ministry of National Security and Collin Partap. Please be guided accordingly.”

Partap, the Member of Parliament for Cumuto/Manzanilla, had previously served as Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Trinidad’s government has gone through two high-profile cabinet shakeups since late June.
