LIAT Names New Chief Executive Officer

LIAT’s Board of Directors has appointed Captain Ian Arthur Brunton as the air carrier’s new Chief Executive Officer.

The decision took effect Aug. 1.

Brunton, who began his career as a pilot in the Royal Air Force, is also an attorney. He takes over from Acting CEO Julie Reifer-Jones, who had been serving in the post since the resignation of Brian Challenger June 30.

LIAT is owned by regional shareholders. Its major shareholders include the governments of Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Brunton was the first chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority. In 2009 he was appointed CEO of Caribbean Airlines.
