United Is Launching New Flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 17, 2023

United Airlines is launching a new nonstop route to the tourism hub of Montego Bay in Jamaica this winter, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Beginning in November, United will be kicking off a new route between Denver, Colo. and Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport.

The new flight, which launches Nov. 4, will be operating once weekly on Saturdays. United will be the only airline serving Jamaica nonstop from Colorado.

“We are very pleased to expand our partnership with United with the launch of this new non-stop flight from the legacy carrier’s Denver hub,” said the Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, Jamaica. “The mile-high city is one of the fastest growing in the U.S., so it represents a top target market in the west and supports the strong rebound of Jamaica’s tourism sector as our visitor arrivals numbers are returning to growth over 2019 levels.”

United will be operating the flight on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the company said.

That will mean United will be serving Jamaica from five different cities in the United States, including Newark, Washington, Chicago and Houston. All of those flights come in to Montego Bay.

The new service should help further bolster the island’s surging tourism numbers, which have led to what tourism officials are calling the best summer in Jamaica’s history.

It’s another new route launching out of the Western United States, where more and more carriers are tapping into the area as a source market for Caribbean travel.

That includes soon-to-debut service between Los Angeles and Nassau, which is launching on JetBlue.
