Iberia Is Adding More Flights to Puerto Rico This Winter

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 16, 2023

Spanish carrier Iberia is adding more flights to Puerto Rico for the upcoming winter season, tourism officials said this week.

Beginning in November, Iberia will be operating a maximum of seven weekly flights between Madrid and Puerto Rico.

In November, December and January, that will include five weekly flights; in January and February, that number will go up to a total of seven flights each week.

That’s a significant increase from last winter, when Iberia operated four weekly flights between Madrid and San Juan during the peak season.

Puerto Rico tourism officials say the increase will mean an additional economic impact of $5.7 million to the local economy.

““The announcement marks the first time that the airline has five flights in winter with two months of daily flights,” said Carlos Mercado Santiago, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. “these additional flights expand the possibilities for both Spaniards and travelers from other European markets to visit the Island and see first-hand all the diversity and advantages that we have to offer the world.”
