Linval Joseph, a Defensive Tackle for the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, became the first Virgin Islander to ever win a Super Bowl Sunday night in Indianapolis.

Now, the praise is starting to pour in.

“The Virgin Islands is justifiably proud of Linval Joseph and his participation in Super Bowl XLVI and we want to congratulate him and his family on the New York Giants’ victory,” said Donna Christensen, the USVI delegate to the US Congress. “Our young people continue to inspire us with their accomplishments and achievements.”

The 23-year-old Joseph, who was born and raised in St Croix and attended East Carolina, was one of a number of Super Bowl participants with Caribbean heritage.
