The Coolest Villa on the Dutch Caribbean Island of Bonaire

By: Alexander Britell and Guy Britton - May 27, 2023

“I’ll be here awhile, ain’t going nowhere” — I’ll Be Here Awhile, 311

You sit on the deck in the evening, or place your Adirondack chair right in the shallows of the pool, and peer out at Bonaire, watching the city lights and Sirius and the moon.

Few travelers even realize this view exists in Bonaire: up here in the hills of Sabadeco you can see the island in a totally new way, reimagining the island’s landscape.

During the day, you can see the edge of Curacao, the salt pyramids of Lac Bay, the sandy rim of Klein Bonaire.

You can see Bonaire from here.

This is Moon Tower, a four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom stunner that has quickly become the coolest vacation villa on this Dutch Caribbean island.

It’s a sleek, bright design that’s the essence of the Bonaire vacation experience: an open kitchen that’s perfect for a gourmet dinner; an indoor-outdoor bar on the pool deck with a window to the kitchen; expansive outdoor seating and dinner space; and a spectacular magnesium infinity pool.

The latter is the epicenter of the villa, the rare infinity pool with two infinity edges — ensuring that you can always enjoy the expanse of the view wherever you are in the pool.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor, another two on the second, all with beautiful en-suite bathrooms and a lovely entertainment room with its own stunning balcony, with a telescope for evening stargazing (and its own fridge and sleeper sofa too, making it a great option if you have young ones with you).

There are little touches everywhere for the traveler: a great propane grill, a place to keep your dive equipment; a full laundry room; a Nespresso machine; all the pool and beach towels you need (and, in a cool detail, colorful posters on the walls from the tours of the legendary rock band 311).

It’s the best of both worlds: it’s a wonderful place to spend all day enjoying the Caribbean sunshine; but it’s also perfect for getting out and exploring the endless adventures of Bonaire, whether you’re going shore diving or snorkeling, windsurfing or want to spend your days discovering the dynamic culinary scene on the island. And no matter your journey, it’s a marvelous place to come back to and culminate your day with a cocktail under the stars.

What’s remarkable is not just the scenery here, but the serenity: Moon Tower is an oasis, a sanctuary of serenity, where you’ll marvel at the quiet, just you and the view. You feel something here, from the moment you arrive.

Head to the market and come back for a foodie-friendly dinner.

And in the evening, under the light of the moon, you look out at the blue of the pool, the cacti and the moonlit sea, the lights of Kralendijk and the constellations above, and you savor this place even more.

And you know you’ll be here awhile. You’re not going anywhere.
