The Caribbean’s Best Margaritaville Resort Is In Nassau

By: Alexander Britell and Guy Britton - February 18, 2023

The transformation Downtown Nassau has experienced has been one of the greatest success stories in the Caribbean in the last few years.

In the radius of just a few blocks, you can find everything from a world-class art gallery to a winery to a pirate museum to a chocolate factory (with the Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant the leading driver of that renaissance).

Plainly, there is a palpable new energy in the streets of the capital, helping to create a renewed tourism destination in the heart of this centuries-old city.

But nowhere is the New Nassau more apparent than in the very center of town on the corner of waterfront that is now home to the Margaritaville Beach Resort.

The Margaritavile, which opened its doors in 2021, is a sleek, modern resort that’s rather unique among Margaritaville-branded properties in the wider Caribbean.

The resort consists of a pair of waterfront towers comprising 300 rooms: the Margaritaville Beach Resort and the One Particular Harbour residential tower.

Unlike most other Margaritaville properties, this one is not all-inclusive; that means it’s an EP hotel, meaning every facet of your trip is, well, up to you.

And here, that’s a very good thing.

The Lazy River.

Because the choices are vast: 13 different food and beverage outlets; a spa, a fantastic on-site Fins Up Waterpark, a FlowRider, a fantastic rooftop cigar lounge.

It’s one of the most complete resorts — and one of the best values — you’ll find in The Bahamas, with a diverse, well-executed offering that offers a unique experience for every kind of traveler.

If you’re with your family, the waterpark and beach are hard to beat — the former in particular, thanks to a terrific lazy river and a waterslide complex that endlessly thrills. (There’s a “Parakeets Club,” too, but that water park will be calling you and the kids pretty much all day).

If you’re looking for an adult-oriented vacation, you can take a culinary tour around the hotel and downtown eateries, enjoy your afternoons in the elevated adults-only pool or at the spa and spend your happy hours on at the Graycliff Sky Lounge on the rooftop.

And because it’s an EP, it’s all up to you, meaning you can tailor your trip to your heart’s content, picking and choosing and, more importantly, easily walking out the door and exploring the new wonders of downtown Nassau.

Then there are the views; 68 of the suites have direct ocean views of Nassau Harbour, a hub of activity where the frequent sight of cruise ships is a bit of daily theater from your relaxed balcony perch. If you go for one of the One Particular Harbour rooms, make sure you choose one of the ground-floor units, where you can step right out to a private pool and a stunning setting right on the marina.

And yes, it’s a Margaritaville, our favorite one in the Caribbean: with all of the signatures you expect, the pizza at Frank and Lola’s, the steak at JWB, the great boutique, the flowing Landshark, the 12 Volt beach bar.

What makes it the best Margaritaville in the Caribbean is that it’s part of the fabric of downtown Nassau now, a resort where you can spend all day on site but also one that begs you to explore your surroundings.

It’s faithful to the essence of the Jimmy Buffett ethos: this is a tropical resort that’s all about paying tribute to one of the great destinations in the Caribbean, the perfect place to chill; and a significant new addition to one of the region’s great downtown areas.
