Turks and Caicos’ Newest Resort Will Have a Lagoon and a “Boat Concierge”

By: Alexander Britell - January 29, 2023

It’s been one of the hottest travel destinations in the Caribbean since the pandemic, and now Turks and Caicos is getting another major new luxury resort.

The new South Bank residential resort is opening its doors in “late 2023,” according to Grace Bay Resorts, which is managing the project.

The luxury residential resort also includes a mega yacht marina on 31 acres in tony Long Bay, Providenciales.

The project is managed by Grace Bay Resorts and developed by Windward.

It first phase will open later this year, with a mix of one-to-seven-bedroom waterfront residences.

South Bank will be headlined by the first-ever Caribbean design by prominent architect Piero Lissoni, who has lent his talents to the Arc project with a design for a six-story luxury residential buildings.

The residential resort will also feature a mix of homes, from beachfront villas to “boathouses” with their own private docks.

All of the homes will “exude a modern and sophisticated Caribbean aesthetic and promote seamless indoor/outdoor living through sweeping waterfront views and natural design elements,” according to Windward.

Amenities at the resort will include a fully-serviced “boat concierge” and marina; what the property calls a “one-of-a-kind swimming lagoon”; outdoor pools with a fire pit lounge, a beach, several eateries and a spa and fitness center.

And this week, South Bank announced that it has hired its first general manager to lead the opening of the project.

Grace Bay Resorts has tapped Atilla Cimsit to the role, in which he will oversee the pre-opening of the project, slated to debut in “late 2023.”

“We’re confident Cimsit will lead a successful opening for South Bank and continue to help us drive the results and recognition that have positioned Grace Bay Resorts as the Caribbean’s premier luxury operator and developer,” said Nikheel Advani, COO and Principal, Grace Bay Resorts. “With Cimsit’s luxury expertise and extensive knowledge, we look forward to working closely with him on this important opening for our brand.”

Cimsit comes to the property after having served most recently as the private estates manager and director of guest experiences at the COMO Parrot Cay, also in Turks and Caicos.

“The team at Windward is also extremely excited to have Atilla leading the opening for South Bank,” said Ivor Stanbrook, Director of Windward. “With his experience in owners relations and guest experiences, we are confident that he will help make South Bank one of Turks and Caicos’ gems and a destination in itself.”

Grace Bay Resorts has another new resort in Turks and Caicos, Rock House, the cliffside resort it developed and opened last year.
