Hyatt Just Opened a New All-Inclusive in the Riviera Maya

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 14, 2022

Hyatt has opened a new adults-only resort in the Riviera Maya of Mexico.

It is the latest new resort in what has been a very busy month for Hyatt, which just last week debuted a new all-inclusive in Saint Lucia (the Zoetry Marigot Bay) and the nearby Secrets Impression Moxche Playa del Carmen.

The newest property? The all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, another addition to the company’s Hyatt Zilara and Ziva all-inclusive brand and the company’s third Caribbean debut in December.

The new 291-suite Riviera Maya resort is set in Puerto Morelos, the increasingly popular beach town, and it is managed by Playa Hotels and Resorts.

“The Hyatt Zilara brand redefined the adults-only all-inclusive experience more than a decade ago and set a new standard for the category,” said Dean Sullivan, a spokesperson for Playa Hotels and Resorts.

There are now four Hyatt Zilara resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean, including destinations like Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cancun; Cap Cana, Dominican Republic and Los Cabos.

It’s another new resort for Hyatt’s fast-growing Inclusive Collection, buoyed by last year’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group — including ALG’s AMR Collection of luxury all-inclusive resorts.

This week, Hyatt announced that was officially rebranding the AMR Collection to part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection.

“Since Hyatt’s acquisition of Apple Leisure Group in 2021, we have been thoughtfully integrating AMR Collection brands into the Inclusive Collection and the World of Hyatt loyalty program,” said Erica Doyne, senior vice president of marketing and communications at the Inclusive Collection, Hyatt. “All brands that were previously part of AMR Collection will now live under the Inclusive Collection umbrella, alongside Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara. With this latest milestone, we’re unifying our complementary brands under one portfolio and continuing to capture the unwavering leisure demand.”

With the moves, Hyatt is making it clear it intends to be an all-inclusive power in Mexico and the Caribbean, in a strong message to competitor Marriott, whose foray into all-inclusive has been slower.
