It’s the newest way to experience Antigua and Barbuda’s rich history: Rum in the Ruins.
The weekly event is a lively conversation about the destination’s history and archaeology, set at the Dow’s Hill Interpretation Center near Shirley Heights.
With a dramatic view of the island’s Nelson’s Dockyard UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rum in the Ruins focuses each week on a different aspect of history within the country.
The second half lets visitors and guests ask questions about the talk and anything else related to the country’s history.
It’s all fueled with a signature cocktail, a twist on the old Planter’s Punch.
Rum in the Ruins runs Friday afternoons from 5 PM to about 6:30 PM. Tickets are $20 and include two drinks, with funds going directly back to the National Park for conservation and maintenance of historical buildings and ruins.
