Andy Roddick, James Blake to Headline Baha Mar Cup in The Bahamas

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 4, 2021

Tennis greats including Andy Roddick and James Blake will be among the headliners at the return of the Baha Mar Cup charity tennis event in The Bahamas next month.

The second edition of the Baha Mar Cup will include a Pro-Am Tournament, a tennis tournament, an auction and awards ceremony, along with a special dinner by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson at his new restaurant, Marcus and Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, among others.

This year’s edition will take place on Nov. 6, benefitting the Baha Mar Resort Foundation supporting the Mark Knowles Children’s Tennis Initiative.

“Following the success of our inaugural tennis tournament that took place in 2019, we are thrilled to announce the return of the Baha Mar Cup this November,” said Graeme DavisPresident, Baha Mar. “We are both honored and humbled to welcome back our loyal guests, friends, celebrated athletes and supporters who will join us for a weekend filled with an array of tennis and culinary activities, as we continue to raise awareness and funds to support the Bahamian youth tennis community, enhance public tennis facilities and provide opportunities for at risk children.

The first-ever Baha Mar Cup was held in November 2019, raising more than $100,000 to benefit those affected by Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas.

The event is held at the Baha Mar Racquet Club, which includes nine state-of-the-art tennis courts, including six professional hard courts, two Har-Tru clay courts and the only grass court in the Caribbean.
