Puerto Rico Is Reopening Bars

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 4, 2021

Puerto Rico is reopening bars on the island as part of a broader loosening of pandemic restrictions.

Beginning June 7, Puerto Rico will be reopening bars at 50 percent capacity, along with game rooms.

Outdoor bars and “chinchorros” will not have a capacity limit, although a physical distance of six feet must be maintained between parties.

Capacity in business like malls, restaurants, casinos and theaters will increase to 75 percent, along with museums and hotel pools.

Other social activities, including business and corporate events, will be able to take place at 75 percent capacity, although attendees will need to provide a negative PCR or antigen test or proof of full vaccination.

Puerto Rico has also announced that visitors arriving at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport can receive a Johnson and Johnson vaccine in Terminal Ba.

Puerto Rico is also offering Johnson and Johnson vaccines for travelers to Vieques and Culebra at the ferry terminal in Ceiba.

Puerto Rico recently changed its entry protocols, waiving pre-testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers.
