Dominican Republic Tourism Continues to Rebound in 2021

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 12, 2021

The Dominican Republic’s tourism sector continues to show strength, with strong growth in April, according to new data from the country’s Ministry of Tourism.

The country reported more than 327,000 visitors in April, a 7.5 percent increase compared to March 2021.

The numbers show a “sustained trend of recovery of tourism in the Dominican Republic,” according to Tourism Minister David Collado.

“With these numbers it is evidenced that tourism continues to grow in a sustainable way in the Dominican Republic, thanks to the effort we are together with the private sector,” he said.

Hotel occupancy is also climbing, with the country surpassing 70 percent during the Easter holiday, and strong March numbers in both Santo Doming and Santiago.

And air bookings to the Dominican Republic are showing the best numbers in 14 months, Collado said.
