Cancun saw a jump in air traffic in September, according to the latest data from Mexico-based ASUR, which manages the destination’s airport.

Cancun International Airport saw a 1.2 percent increase in passenger traffic last month, with a total of 1.748 million passengers in October, compared to the same month in 2018.

That was driven by a 3 percent increase in domestic passenger traffic, with a total of 736,367 passengers served.

International traffic was down by 0.1 percent, with 1.01 million passengers in October.

It was a good sign, however, after several months of declines in what is the busiest airport in the wider Caribbean-Mexico region.

For the year to date, Cancun traffic is up by 1 percent, with a total of 20.9 million passengers.
