All-inclusive brand Club Med is in the midst of a significant expansion of its resort on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
The company is investing around $44 million on a major transformation and expansion project at the resort, which is set in the popular beach town of Sainte Anne.
The centerpiece of the project will be the addition of 130 new rooms, including a new 42-unit “Zen Oasis,” along with 76 club rooms and 12 family suites on the ocean.
Club Med will be debuting the revamped La Caravelle on Dec. 21, according to a statement from Guadeloupe tourism officials to Caribbean Journal.
The expansion will be accompanied by a widespread renovation and enhancement project: that will include the addition of a new eatery called Beach House; the Rum Cellar and Lounge Bar and a new Club Med Spa set right on the beach, with four treatment rooms and a beauty salon.
Club Med is also adding one of the brand’s newest concepts, the Zen Oasis, one that has been particularly successful at its resort in Punta Cana.
The Zen Oasis adults-only enclave at La Caravelle will include an ocean-view pool and jacuzzi, an exclusive adults-only section of beach and a mix of 30 deluxe rooms and 12 suites.
The oceanfront space will be open to all adults at the resort — not simply those staying in the Zen Oasis rooms.
The expansion comes as Guadeloupe will soon see a significant airlift boost for the peak winter season, with New York City-based JetBlue Airways set to launch thrice-weekly flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Pointe-a-Pitre beginning in February.
The relaunched La Caravelle will debut shortly after another major project for the brand, the highly-anticipated Club Med Miches, which is pegged for a November opening in the Dominican Republic.
The Club Med La Caravelle is one of two Club Med all-inclusive hotels in the French Caribbean, with the other on the southern tip of Martinique.
