The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association officially has a new president.

Barbados hotelier Patricia Affonso-Dass has taken the reins as the new president of the CHTA.

Affonso-Dass succeeds outgoing President Karolin Troubetzkoy, who was hailed for her contributions during the region during her term, including during last year’s crippling storms.

Affonso-Dass is the group general manager at Ocean Hotels in Barbados, which has a portfolio of properties on the island, including the Ocean Two, Sea Breeze Beach Hotel and the South Beach hotel.

A native of Roseau, Dominica, Affonso-Dass has previously served as president of both the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana and the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

She will serve as president of the association for the next two years.
