Hotel giant Bahia Principe is set to relaunch one of its most popular Dominican Republic all-inclusive resorts as a family-friendly getaway.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado, formerly an adults-only property, will relaunch in May for travelers of all ages.

The only hotel on the island off the coast of Samana, the 149-room retreat is accessed via a private ferry from the Bahia Principe dock.

“This paradisiacal one-hotel island offers a comprehensive experience that includes two private beaches, our signature Bahia Spa, as well as nightly entertainment perfect for families to stay on the island,” said Helen Montijano, vice president of sales and marketing  for Bahia Principe in the U.S. “Though the hotel will retain its tranquil spirit, we have decided to remove the adults-only restriction based on feedback from past guests who are eager to enjoy the resort with their families and from our travel partners who help coordinate and book stays,” said Helen Montijano, vice president of sales and marketing for the U.S. and Canada.

The resort can only be accessed by boat.

Bahia Principe has two other properties in Samana: the Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa and the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo.
