Commercial flight service to the island of Dominica has officially resumed, government officials confirmed to Caribbean Journal.
The news comes as the island works to recover from the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Maria.
Regional carriers including LIAT Airlines and Seaborne have both resumed commercial flights to the island, though operating at a limited capacity.
Seaborne is operating daily flights from San Juan, while LIAT is operating flights to and from Antigua and Barbados.
While the island’s hotel stock was severely damaged, assessments from the country’s tourism board show 32 properties “moderately damaged” and likely able to operate either now or in the near future.
