Jamaica’s Newest Airport Project

By: - January 2nd, 2017

Jamaica’s two major airport are getting a serious upgrade thanks to the construction of a pair of state-of-the-art air traffic control towers.

The $14.8 million project will see the construction of new towers at both Norman Manley International Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

The new tower at Sangster International Airport will be commissioned into service this year.

Both towers have been built by Canadian contractor INTELCAN and are part of a larger modernization program for the island’s airports.

Jamaica Transport Minister Mike Henry said the project was “a signal to local and international interests that the government is committed to providing service in a modern and conducive building with state-of-the-art equipment of the highest international standards.”

“Innovation and performance in aviation continue to redefine the logistical possibilities of travel, while creating a reliable and safe super highway for multi-culturalism and networking,” the Minister said.
