By: - November 19th, 2016

Prince Harry arrived in Antigua on Sunday to begin his official visit to the Caribbean.

Prince Henry of Wales will be on hand to celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence for Antigua and Barbuda, along with the 50th anniversary of independence in both Barbados and Guyana.

Prince Harry touched down on a British Airways flight on Sunday afternoon.

The two-week trip will include visits to seven countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados and Guyana.

The Prince’s itinerary on Sunday included a re-dedication for the island’s Clarence House, located in historic English Harbour.

It wasn’t the first trip to the island for Prince Harry, who first visited Antigua and Barbuda as a child with his mother, Princess Diana.

Harry will also be stopping in Barbuda.

“Your Royal Highness, we are pleased to welcome you here for another very good reason,” Tourism Minister Asot Michael told the Prince. “And that is the inspiration you have personally given to the world by your dedication to noble causes that have replaced despair with hope.”

It will be Prince Harry’s second official visit to the Caribbean following his first trip to the West Indies in 2012, when he was representing Queen Elizabeth II during her diamond jubilee.

“Prince Harry is honoured to be visiting the Caribbean in the year of The Queen’s 90th birthday, and to continue to develop The Royal Family’s strong bonds with the people of these important Commonwealth countries,” the Royal Family said in a statement. While these Caribbean countries may be relatively small in size, each has more than their fair share of natural wonders, inspiring individuals and unique cultures which His Royal Highness will experience during this two week tour.”

His itinerary will include a wide range of engagements, from meetings with conservationists to talks with well-known cultural figures and sporting stars.

Indeed, his last visit to the Caribbean saw a good-natured “race” between Prince Harry and Jamaican sporting legend Usain Bolt.

Here is his full itinerary.
