A New Caribbean Marathon

Time to try the Tobago Marathon

As the weather (finally) cools here at CJ HQ in Miami, runners like me are turning their thoughts to race season and planning our destination race calendars for 2017. While there are already several Caribbean signature road races to entice island-loving runners (Jamaica’s reggae marathon, for example, celebrates its 15th anniversary in December) there’s also a brand new race to consider: Tobago’s Sea To Sea Marathon.

Tobago Marathon

The inaugural 5k and 10k (on May 20, 2017), and half-marathon and marathon (on May 21) are all chip-timed and will take runners on a journey from the Caribbean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, starting in the Main Ridge Forest Reserve near Bloody Bay on the Caribbean side, and proceeding along the Atlantic coast on a AIMS/IAAF certified course to the capital of Scarborough and the finish line at Lambeau Beach, Little Rocky Bay.

Runners can register individually or as teams of between five and 40 people. Ready to lace up? Now through December 31, adult runners can save $25 on registration, which ends on May 6. Registration for runners under 20 is $15. The top three male and female finishers will take home trophies; top age-group finishers will score cash prizes; and every finisher goes home with a medal – not to mention the well-earned satisfaction of running in this unique Caribbean race.
