Dairy Queen Planning Major Expansion in Caribbean

Minneapolis-based Dairy Queen has announced a major expansion plan into the Caribbean market.

The company’s DQ system has announced plans to open 24 new locations in five countries in the Caribbean over the next five years.

lans calls for the development of DQ locations in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, St Lucia, Grenada and St Maarten, both DQ Grill and Chill and DQ Treat locations.

There are already eight DQ Treat locations in Trinidad.

“The international marketplace continues to be a huge opportunity for growth for the DQ system,” says John Gainor, President and CEO of International Dairy Queen, Inc.  “We’ll be introducing our DQ Grill & Chill concept to fans in Trinidad and expanding the DQ brand in Jamaica. Our presence in these warm weather countries is a perfect fit for us.”

DQ has more than 6,700 locations around the world, including 2,200 outside of the United States.
