Choice Hotels Expands to Guyana

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 24, 2015

Choice Hotels is expanding in the region.

The company announced the addition of the Opus Hotel in Georgetown, Guyana to its Ascend Hotel Collection.

The 25-room hotel is the 12th in Choice Hotels’ Caribbean portfolio, and becomes the second major branded-property in the city, following this year’s launch of the Guyana Marriott.

“The Ascend Hotel Collection strives to heighten the guest experience by bringing the local colors and character into the hotel,” said Neil Cantor, head of Ascent Hotel Collection for Choice Hotels. “With its tropical climate and quaint Dutch and Victorian influenced architecture, the capital city of Georgetown is an exceptional destination with much to offer visitors and ecotourists.”

The property includes a restaurant and bar, small meeting room facilities and complimentary parking and Wi-Fi.

“I am confident that this relationship with Choice’s Ascend Hotel Collection is not only the right fit for The Opus Hotel, but will also help elevate Guyana’s image in the global travel marketplace,” said Wilfred Brandford, owner of The Opus Hotel.
