Caribbean Room With a View: St James’s Club, Antigua

THEY ARE some of the sweetest spots in all of Antigua and Barbuda.

The little coves, the little bays, the places where the water seems to stand still, waiting for a wade or a paddle or an afternoon swim.

Antigua is full of them, something you learn driving the island and journeying on what seems to be an ever-winding road around the periphery of the island.

And the light in Antigua is different, too, especially the late afternoon sun, which seems to grant these small corners of the island a kind of ethereal quality.

So it’s a great delight, then, when you look out the window of your room and see all of these things — the ultra-calm water, the light, the sun.
