Why This Hotel Is Next On My Caribbean Travel Wish List

Maybe it’s because it secreted on the Bahamian Out Island of Eleuthera, only 50 miles from Nassau but a world apart. Or perhaps it’s because it has a pair of pink-sand beaches I can’t wait to sink my toes into. Then again, it could be the clutch of sleek suites and villas, decorated in a chic white-and-wood palette, that are calling my name.

Truth is, it’s likely a combination of all these things that have put The Cove, Eleuthera on my Caribbean hotel wish list.

I’m also enchanted by the 110-foot-long infinity pool at this beachfront spread, where I imagine myself passing the hours wearing nothing but a swimsuit and a smile. And I’m SO ready to settle into one of the compact cottages, little more than 200 square-feet but big on amenities, including 500-thread-count bed linens, WI-FI and 50-inch flat-screen TVs. They’re called Kamalame in honor of the native trees that lend a backdrop, but really, they’ve got my name written all over them.

It’s only about an hour’s flight from here in Miami to North Eleuthera Airport (ELH), which makes The Cove an ideal weekend escape. I’ll spend my days paddle-boarding and snorkeling in turquoise waters; biking the 40-acre property; and exploring Gregory Town, the island’s sleepy hub. OK, who am I kidding? I’ll probably pass the time sipping a Goombay Punch and hoping for a Justin Bieber sighting. (He’s stayed here before; it could happen!)

Paradise means different things to different people. For me it’s the promise of a stylish ambience; luxury amenities; and an Instagram-worthy beach, shared with as few people as possible. So The Cove, Eleuthera sounds like Paradise Found. And one day soon, I’ll make it Paradise Reached.
