CHIC Punta Cana by Royalton Luxury Resorts has completed the installation of a new Electro-Chemical Activation Technology and Green Chemical program for its kitchens and housekeeping services.

The eco-friendly cleaning and sanitizing system, One Link Global (OGL), is the first of its kind to be implemented in the Dominican Republic, and will help reduce the hotel’s entire carbon footprint.

The recent upgrade is just one of the sustainability initiatives Royalton resort group has incorporated in the past year.

“This represents a new milestone for OLG and full commitment from the Blue Diamond Resorts to practice and implement green sustainable business practices on their properties.,” said OLG President, Gennaro Cirone. “The system will yield cost savings, simplified processes, waste reduction, simplify training & service, improve employee working conditions and reduce carbon footprints at CHIC Punta Cana.”

Two of its other properties, Royalton Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Royalton White Sands in Jamaica received commendation from Green Globe, the international organization which rates hotels based on their long-term commitment to implementing sustainable practices into their everyday operations.

“We are proud to be able to have made this significant investment towards improving our eco-footprint so soon since opening last Christmas and to be leading the way across the island with this new technology,” said General Manager for CHIC Punta Cana, Mauricio Zarate. “As well as streamlining our operations, the new ECA and Green Chemical program is a significant step towards achieving our overall green sustainability target, including Green Globe accreditation in the medium term.
