St Kitts and Nevis has sworn in the twin-island federation’s new Cabinet.

In a ceremony on Monday, St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris himself accepted the portfolios of Finance, Sustainable Development, National Security, People Empowerment and Constituency Empowerment.

Most notable among the appointees were Lindsay Grant as Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce and Shawn Richards as Deputy Prime Minister.

The former appointment was a bit of a surprise given what seemed to be a strong track record for Mark Brantley as Nevis’ Minister of Tourism over the last two years. Brantley was instead named Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation.

The ceremony came a week after Team Unity’s election victory that ended two decades of rule by the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.

Eugene Hamilton — Minister of Agriculture, Health and National Health Insurance, Human Settlements, Community Development, Gender Affairs, Social Services, Lands and Cooperatives

Senator Vincent Fitzgerald Byron — Attorney General, Justice, Legal Affairs and Communications.
