SAN JUAN — Martinique’s airlift growth is continuing.

The French Caribbean island will be receiving new weekly flights from Air Canada Rouge.

The announcement was made during the CHTA Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference in San Juan this week.

The new flights include an additional weekly flight on Tuesday between Montreal and Martinique through April 28, shifting to a Wednesday flight from May 6 to Aug. 26.

That comes in addition to a weekly, year-round Sunday flight between Montreal and Martinique.

The launch comes after American Airlines announced a major expansion in its US service to Miami, which will rise to six weekly flights between Miami and Martinique beginning Dec. 17.
