In the Caribbean, rum goes well with just about everything.

But as the glory of rum continues to expand its reach, more and more people are beginning to realize that one can marry fine dining and rum just the same way one can pair wine with food.

That’s the idea behind the newest initiative at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, whose Mango restaurant has introduced what seems to be the region’s first rum and food tasting menu.

The new tasting menu is enjoyed every Sunday at 6 PM, with a cost of $130 per person: it’s five courses, with a rum for each.

In another clever twist, the menu is consumed at a communal table, making for a lively, friendly atmosphere.

Mango is, of course, home to the now-famous 101 Rums bar, which Rum Journal named its Rum Bar of the Year at the end of 2014.

The weekly pairing is hosted by Camilla Stahl, restaurant manager at Mango and 101 Rums Bar, who discusses the pairings with the guests.

“We wanted to try something new and different this year,” Stahl tells Rum Journal. “Food & rum cocktails/rum and chocolate seem to be more common out there, but I find very little information on neat rum and food. So we thought, let’s try it.”

As we like to say, anything worth trying is worth trying with rum.
