Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Orville London will hold talks on Monday.

The two leaders will be meeting for the first time since June 2013.

In a statement, London said he was “heartened by the opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss long-standing and critical issues,” although “disheartened it would have taken 15 months between our last meeting and this one.”

“I am happy that we now have an opportunity to discuss a number of issues and hopefully come to some conclusion, because some of these issues have been on the discussion table for two years,” London said.

Issues that will be discussed at the meeting include constitutional and legislative amendments toward self-government by Tobago and additional modes of funding for the THA, among others.

London said he hoped the talks would be “conducted in an environment where we’re looking for solutions.”

The talks will take place at the Prime Minister’s office in Port of Spain.
