American Airlines will soon be launching daily service to Grenada, according to Tourism Minister Alexandra Otway-Noel.

American Airlines currently services Grenada with flights from Thursday to Monday.

Beginning in December, the service will be expanded to every day from Miami.

“That is going to be a big deal for us because it is going to allow us to get more volume, as well as get some more connections on different days through Miami,” Otway-Noel said in a statement. “This will meet the needs of not only our visitors and Diaspora, but our locals, our business community and St George’s University faculty and students…They will have a bit of an easier time traveling and more transportation options.”

The expanded service could be a boon for a country that led CARICOM in the rate of increase of tourism arrivals in the first half of 2014.

“Our relationship with American Airlines is very strong and we thank them for their continued support as we continue to provide a world class tourism product,” Otway-Noel said. “We continue to reach out and make sure that we are being seen in the right markets. We want to ensure we are opening up ourselves to markets that are doing well and that have good potential.”
