A delegation of Vietnamese investors is visiting Haiti this week.

The group includes a group of businessmen from Vietnam and is being led by the country’s vice minister for commerce, according to a statement from the office of Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe.

The delegation visited the Caracol Industrial Park in northern Haiti, exploring investment opportunities including the manufacturing of solar lamps and textile clothing manufacturing.

Lamothe himself visited Vietnam at the end of 2012, and Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited Haiti in March of this year.

Last summer, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement on trade and investment during a visit by a Haitian delegation.

This week’s visit was first announced following the signing of that agreement.
