The Calabash Grenada hotel will soon be undertaking a multimillion-dollar upgrade project, the property announced Monday.

The resort will be closing in August and September to “extensively upgrade the resort,” it said in a statement.

“We understand that our competition are luxury resorts worldwide, and with standards so high, we want to make sure that Calabash is constantly pushing forward to stand with the best in the world,” said Adele Garbutt, a director at the property whose family owns the resort. “We strongly believe in the importance of upgrading the resort during our closure periods each year. Over the past 20 years we have invested an average of $1M per year, however this year we are undertaking our largest and most exciting project.”

The property will close from Aug. 2 to Oct. 4 to renovate areas including their one-bedroom pool suites; the property will also completely redesign its entire suite category.

The Rhodes Restaurant will also see new furniture and a new design.

There are also plans to complete the property’s existing solar energy project, the resort said.

“Visitors come to Grenada because if its pure and beautiful surroundings, so it is our duty to constantly find ways to reduce our impact on the environment and to preserve our island’s natural beauty,” Garbutt said.

The project is set to be completed by Oct. 4.
