The government of Canada could be considering public-private partnerships on the island of Tobago, according to the Tobago House of Assembly.

Canada’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, Gerard Latulippe, recently held talks with Tobago Chief Secretary Orville London to discuss the idea.

The two sides additionally discussed the Caribbean Local Economic Development (CARILED) project on the island, according to Leslie-Ann Boisselle, the High Commission’s public affairs officer.

Tobago’s government says is currently exploring several public-private partnerships (PPPs) to finance projects.

One of those projects includes a housing unit development on a 63-acre site on the western portion of Tobago.
