The final project designs for the planned Park Hyatt St Kitts hotel have been approved, with a projected completion date of the end of 2015.

The announcement was made by Rakesh Sarna, Americas Group President of Hyatt Hotels.

“I am delighted to have achieved this significant stage in the development of Park Hyatt St Kitts,” Sarna said. “It is an exciting time to see the plans for this hotel come to life, through its stunning design.”

The project recently tapped United Kingdom-based construction company Kier as the main contractor for phase one of the project, which is being developed by Dubai-based Range Developments.

The first phase of the project will include 134 rooms in the Banana Bay of Christophe Harbour, which is located on the southeastern peninsula of St Kitts.

“We are very pleased to have achieved this milestone in the development process,” said Mohammed Asaria, Vice Chairman of Range Developments, developer of Park Hyatt St Kitts. “We look forward to delivering one of the finest resorts in the Caribbean, in line with the expectations of the Government and people of St Kitts and Nevis.”

The companies said the project would create around 350 jobs during construction.

“Not only is the Park Hyatt project vital to the future economic growth of St Kitts and Nevis, but this meeting has increased my confidence that the project has all the right elements of sustainability embedded in its design,” St Kitts and Nevis Tourism Minister Ricky Skerritt said following the announcement. “My discussions with Hyatt Hotels and Range’s executives reassured me of their joint commitment to people empowerment and community development, two of the key philosophical underpinnings of our government.”

Christophe Harbour, a 2,500-acre development, is owned by Darby Investment Partner, which acquired the site earlier this year.
