Trinidad and Tobago Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine met last week with Chinese officials to discuss the establishment of direct trade of liquefied natural gas.

Ramnarine’s talks with Zhang Yuqing, deputy head of China’s National Energy Administration, followed up on matters raised during the visit by Chinese President Xu Jinping to Trinidad in June, according to a statement from the Ministry.

According to Ramnarine, China’s “advanced technology” in areas including natural gas and green energy “could be of benefit to Trinidad and Tobago.”

Trinidad Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will make a state visit to China to continue these discussions later this year, the government said.
