A CARICOM Ministerial “Fact-Finding Mission” concluded a three-day visit to Turks and Caicos this week.

The mission, which was led by Bahamian Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell, had been mandated by CARICOM to review the situation in the Turks and Caicos Islands, which returned to democratic government late last year.

The team included St Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Patrice Nisbett and the special envoy of the President of Haiti to CARICOM, Peterson Noel, along with Ambassador Picewell Forbes, High Commissioner of The Bahamas to CARICOM and Assistant Secretary General Foreign and Community Relations at the CARICOM Secretariat Ambassador Colin Granderson.

The group held talks with Governor Ric Todd, Premier Dr Rufus Ewing and his Cabinet, the opposition and other members of civil society.

CARICOM said in a release that the delegation would present its findings and recommendations to the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Trinidad and Tobago next week.
