A group of executives from Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks met Tuesday with Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina in Santo Domingo.

The group, led by Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall, expressed its intention to continue its support for development initiatives in the country, led by the construction of a playground for children in Boca Chica.

“We wanted to thank the President for all the facilities given to us to develop our projects in the country,” said Junior Noboa, Arizona’s vice president of operations for Latin America.

The team will be investing $2.3 million in youth development programmes for those training at the club’s Dominican baseball academy, and about $1 million in bonds.

For the year, the team’s investment will reach about $5 million.

“We spent more than $1 million on what are our operations, and another large quantity on the remodeling of our academy,” Noboa said.
