Jordan’s King Abdullah II briefly visited Haiti this weekend as part of a wider trip to the United States and Spain.

Abdullah’s visit featured a meeting with Haiti President Michel Martelly at Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport, where the two sides discussed security, education and health, according to a statement from the National Palace.

Haiti’s government said Jordan’s leader inquired about the progress made in Haiti since the devastating earthquake in 2010 and to identify potential areas of cooperation between the two sides.

Abdullah visited with the Jordanian United Nations peacekeeping contingent in Haiti, the country’s government said, and “was briefed on their humanitarian efforts” in the country.

Jordan’s official news agency said the King also toured a weapons expo by the Jordanian force.

The visit lasted for “a few hours,” the National Palace said, and included members of Haiti’s Cabinet.
