Grenada’s government has officially released the designs for its new planned Parliament building.
The building will replace the country’s former Parliament, which was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It will be located on Grenada’s Mt Wheldale.
The design is by local firm COCOA Design, which beat out six other Caribbean firms to win the design competition in October 2012.
Funding for the Parliament project is coming from a pair of sources: the government of Australia is providing $5 million, while the United Arab Emirates is contributing $2 million.
Last year, the government said construction was slated to begin by the second quarter of this year.
