After this weekend’s airspace restrictions ground things to a halt, Aruba’s airport is back in action, with flights resuming on Sunday.

Monday had a total of 57 flights planned in and out, along with an additional six flights to help accommodate cancellations from the weekend.

Due to its geographical proximity to Venezuela (and its sheer number of daily flights), Aruba was one of the most impacted destinations in the Caribbean.

Delta Air Lines, for one, added two extra flights today, with additional frequencies both to Atlanta and New York, to help stranded passengers.

Airspace restrictions were in place during the United States’ military action in Venezuela over the weekend. The restrictions expired early Sunday morning, as Department of Transportation officials confirmed.

In all, Queen Beatrix International Airport handled almost 17,000 passengers on Sunday, with 37 flights arriving and departing.

This week may see some additional discomfort as airlines look to smooth their schedules around the region.

Next week, you can book a flight from Miami to Aruba for around $412 roundtrip, according to Google Flights.
